Here's the interesting point

  • Moving through a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)?  You might not need a language test anymore (as long as it's not part of the Express Entry system). Phew! One less hurdle to jump.

  • Express Entry still needs a test.  This is a different program, but if this is your route, you'll still need to show off your English or French skills with a test. Don't worry, the test covers things like everyday conversation, not rocket science!

Express Entry Hack!  If you do need a test for Express Entry, there's a cool trick. Your test scores can be checked electronically, so you don't have to upload a copy with your application. Bonus points for convenience!

About the test ️

  • English Tests:  Think of these like report cards for your English skills. Popular options include IELTS, CELPIP-General, and PTE Core.

  • French Tests:  If French is your jam, then TEF Canada or TCF Canada are your go-to tests.

Update On Score Breakdown

Federal Skilled Worker Program:  Aim for a 7 in English (Canadian Language Benchmarks - CLB).

  • Canadian Experience Class:

  • Outside Canada education? You'll need a minimum of 7 in speaking, reading, writing, and listening.

  • Got Canadian education or work experience? The minimum score drops to a 5 in speaking, reading, writing, and listening.
