What is the NL Scholarship?
The NL Scholarship is a prestigious scholarship program financed by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, along with Dutch research universities and universities of applied sciences. The University of Groningen is proud to offer the NL Scholarship to international students who aspire to do their master’s in the Netherlands.
Who is Eligible?
To qualify for the NL Scholarship at the University of Groningen, you must meet the following criteria:
You do not hold the nationality of one of the EEA countries.
You are going to study in the Netherlands.
You do not have a degree from an educational institution in the Netherlands.
You have excellent grades during your bachelor/undergraduate studies.
You meet the specific requirements of the University of Groningen.
Scholarship Amount
The NL Scholarship offers a generous amount of €5,000 to contribute to your living costs in The Netherlands. You will receive this in the first year of your studies.
How to Apply?
You can apply for the scholarship after you have received an admission offer from the University of Groningen for one of the programmes mentioned on their list. The application process involves writing a motivation letter in which you make clear why you are the right candidate for the NL Scholarship.
The deadline for the first call is 1 February 2024 (23:59 CET). Furthermore, the deadline for the second call is 1 June 2024 (23:59 CEST). You can apply by clicking on the link provided on their website.
Selection Procedure
A ranking of candidates will be made after a careful evaluation of the applicant’s academic merit (i.e., results obtained in the study programme, academic research activities, overall evaluation of previous education, etc.) and of the candidates’ NL Scholarship motivational statements. All applicants will receive a notification regarding their application outcome.
