Role Overview
What You’ll Do
As a Research Scientist at Anthropic, you will:
Work on Large-Scale AI Research Projects: Engage in projects that align advanced models with human values and preferences.
Understand and Interpret Models: Dive deep into the workings of deep neural networks and develop new methodologies to support these research areas.
Collaborate Closely: Work within a cohesive team environment, contributing insights that maximize the impact of our research efforts.

Representative Projects
In this role, you may work on projects such as:
Designing methods for automatically red-teaming language models to identify harmful behavior.
Creating evaluation datasets for detecting new dangerous capabilities in language models, like persuasion or deception.
Comparing the computational efficiency of different Transformer variants.
Developing interactive visualizations to explore attention mechanisms between tokens in a language model.
Qualifications
Required Experience
Research Experience: At least one major research project related to machine learning where you played a significant role.
Preferred Skills
Articulation and Communication: Ability to clearly explain the motivations behind your work and share insights from your research.
Results Communication: Enjoyment in writing up and discussing your results, including null results.
Team Collaboration: Experience in collaborative, data-driven research environments.
Attention to Detail: Belief that understanding the details is crucial for developing a big-picture vision.
Quantitative Science Background: Experience in quantitative science, even if from another field, is valued.

Salary Range
Annual Salary: £230,000—£515,000 GBP
