Position Overview

The Role of an Equity Associate Intern

As an Equity Associate Intern, you will step into the shoes of a junior analyst, engaging in fundamental research to craft buy and sell recommendations for stocks. Your journey begins with a comprehensive one-week training program covering accounting, modeling, and valuation techniques.

During the subsequent eight to nine weeks, your focus will shift to completing an industry project and independently covering two stocks. Your responsibilities will include detailed written research and presenting your investment case to senior Analysts and Portfolio Managers. Success in this role could pave the way for a full-time offer as an Equity Associate, based on your demonstrated aptitude, passion, and commitment.

Position Responsibilities

1. Build and Leverage Industry Expertise

In this role, you’ll conduct in-depth analysis of companies within specific industry subgroups. This involves building relationships with company management, suppliers, customers, and competitors to gain a thorough understanding of market trends and material ESG issues affecting long-term fundamentals.

2. Identify and Develop Insights on Key Stock Drivers

Your role will require you to pinpoint what truly matters for each stock. This includes performing creative and differentiated research to build strong convictions around critical variables, assessing their impact on company profitability and stock prices.

3. Communicate Effectively to Drive Impact

Articulating the investment case clearly is crucial. You will need to iterate with incremental analysis to support or refute your investment theses and present your findings to a group of senior Analysts and Portfolio Managers.

Education, Work Experience, and Key Traits

1. Educational Requirements

Candidates should be in the process of completing a BA or BS degree. While we encourage applications from individuals with superior academic records across all majors, a demonstrated passion for investing is paramount.

2. Desired Attributes

We seek self-driven individuals who thrive in autonomous environments and are eager to make a meaningful impact. A strong work ethic, the ability to learn quickly, and effective communication skills are essential. While prior financial industry experience is helpful, it is not a requirement. Instead, we value a genuine passion for investing and a strong desire to succeed.

3. Team Collaboration

Successful candidates will be team players who contribute positively to the overall process. A positive attitude, leadership by example, and active involvement are crucial to advancing the investment dialogue and achieving collective goals.
