Role Overview
As a Graduate Software QA Engineer at Canonical, you will immerse yourself in our strategy for quality coordination and testing. You will become a quality expert, learning to establish and refine quality processes from scratch. This role provides a comprehensive understanding of the tools and techniques essential for introducing new products and driving quality improvements throughout the development cycle.
Key Responsibilities
Enhance Automated Test Capabilities: Contribute to the design and coding of automated tests.
Conduct Testing: Perform both automated and manual testing of Ubuntu Desktop, Server, and Core across the latest hardware.
Problem-Solving: Suggest solutions to identified product issues and work with project teams to ensure consistent execution.
Process Improvement: Identify bottlenecks in quality assurance processes and recommend enhancements.
Data Collection: Gather and analyze quality data to support proactive measures for improving the Ubuntu platform’s reliability.
Testing Management: Prepare time estimates and schedules for testing activities, document bugs, and communicate findings clearly.
Collaboration: Work with development teams globally to build efficient, effective automated testing frameworks.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Linux Enthusiast: A strong passion for Linux desktop and related technologies. Experience with Ubuntu is a plus.
Scripting Skills: Familiarity with common scripting languages like Shell, Python, or JavaScript.
Communication Skills: Comfortable with online collaboration tools such as mailing lists, Mattermost, and wikis. Excellent English communication skills are essential.
Problem-Solving: Demonstrated logic, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
Adaptability: Ability to quickly learn new technologies and be effective in a globally distributed team.
